Lovingly Hooked

Life of a Crochet Addict

Hearts Throw

With a wedding early 2014 I knew starting this year that I was wanting to spend some quality time working on a handmade special gift for the bride and groom. I weeded through a ton of different patterns for the ‘perfect one’ when I came across this a free pattern online that fit the bill. I set to work with a ball of Bernat Handicrafter (it ended up needing a few) and the resulting project was a perfect wedding gift!

A labour of love – this did take me a lot longer than a lot of the projects that I take on but I was so pleased with the end result that I couldn’t have cared. I opted to use Bernat Handicrafter 100% USA grown cotton for many reasons including the fact it was a locally grown fiber, the softness and the durability for care afterwards. The pattern is a free pattern from Red Heart and can be found HERE.

This, like any cabling pattern, is definitely not a beginner pattern, but for anyone who has experimented with some smaller cabled projects and is looking to challenge themselves its a GREAT project to take on! The pattern is super easy to follow and the design of the blanket gives you the satisfaction of accomplishment after each panel.

Has anyone else ever made a handmade gift for a wedding or bridal shower? If so I would LOVE to see and hear about it! Please share either in the comments below, or better yet on our Facebook page HERE.
